The Cottages are amazing, the views are breath taking. The staff is exceptionally accommodating, friendly, and responsive. Our two week stay here was truly life changing.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and in a stunning location. Joanna’s information beforehand was very extensive and helpful and we were made very welcome. The access to the gardens is a real draw and we enjoyed our chats with both Lorraine on the gate and the stalker. All in all a really lovely place to stay.

Lovely cosy cottage, full of character and really comfortable. Very well equipped with good broadband, TV and DVD. We loved being able to enjoy fantastic walks from the front door - beautiful wilderness in the hills and also really loved visiting the garden, which is stunning with lots of interesting planting. We saw red deer and red squirrels every day at close quarters, which was absolutely enchanting!

A great supply of logs for the stove - lovely wood burner in the living room kept the whole house nice and warm.

Flowers on arrival, lovely homemade biscuits, tea, coffee and milk - all very much appreciated and made for a very warm welcome.

Thank you for such a lovely stay.

Well, we though would we recommend this wonderful place to other travellers? We had to consider that because heaven forbid it was booked out the next time we tried!
Tips for other travellers
It’s the west coast so bring clothing and footwear to suite your intentions and the weather. You can walk along forestry roads or go off along stalkers paths from the house so light walking shoes or wellies will suffice if your not too worried about going off into the wilderness. Plainly if you intend heading deep into the estate good quality out doors gear and safety equipment is a must.

The kitchen is well appointed with adequate utensils for the available accommodation. Large fridge/freezer and a dishwashing machine with a good sized kitchen table for family meals.

The Spar in Lochcarron is excellent. Very well stocked.

Depending on the time of year Lochcarran Bistro if open a must and The Carran Resturant just ten minutes away is also very good and both are extremely friendly.

A little further afield is the Plockton Inn excellent pub food seafood of course! And further away Kinloch Lodge of Skye lunch is wonderful!!

Remember your Netflix/Amazon/Rakuten etc passwords the WiFi is good enough to stream movies for the odd day when you might want a day in. You have a smart TV.

The house is very cosy so you can wear light clothing in the evenings no problem.

Mattresses are quite firm we brought a thick bed cover for this time but that is a very personal thing you may love it just the way it is.

My second visit to West Bothy and a third already booked. Perfect location for exploring the Highlands.
Take the time to explore the gardens too as each time you do you will find something new. The cleaning protocols for COVID protection were very well observed.

A highlight this year was wild swimming at Gairloch. A meal at Lochcarron Bistro is a must.

A lovely house to stay in.
Very spacious inside and very clean. The views and surroundings are stunning with plenty of places to explore whilst walking within the grounds. Highly recommended and we will definitely be staying here again.

Carron restaurant is a must, just a mile or so down the road.
Applecross is worth a trip to along the infamous pass with amazing views.
Eilean donan Castle is a great place to visit and is only 15 mins away

Very helpful, friendly, accommodating owners and estate staff. All talked to us and passed on local information, hints and tips. Offered to phone the GP and sort out appointments when I twisted my ankle.

Attadale gardens visited 3 times in the 9 day stay, different every time.
The Carron Restaurant/Tea Room well worth more than one visit.
Great local store in Lochcarron, posted the local guide out to us which had far more information on local walks than the internet.
View from Beallach nam Ba is astounding - a must. Watch the cloud lift off the Cullin ridge in the morning.

A lovely cosy little cottage in a beautiful but remote location. A car is essential. The pre- arrival info was very comprehensive and the Covid preparations were excellent. The cottage was very well equipped with full sized fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave as well as all the crockery and implements you could wish for. We really enjoyed our access to the stunning Attadale Gardens and a strenuous walk up the estate to the hidden loch. Hard work but worth it. We even spotted the red squirrels on several occasions. Theres lots to see and do in the area and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The Carron restaurant was really good - warm and welcoming with fantastic food. For the brave, the drive over the Baleach to Applecross was outstanding. There is a lovely walk from the southern end of Applecross to 2 coral beaches, but check the tide times first. And we all voted the well earned chips from the Airstream at the Applecross Inn the best ever.
